Shifting the focus towards an African-born Higher Education strategy

An interesting article by Fred Awaah a doctoral candidate at the University of Burundi Doctoral School. highlights education for Africa designed by Africa. An important focus we overlook time again.

Greg Coleman, Board of Trustees with private university: Virtual University of Uganda and catalyst in transforming distance learning. Challenges thinking and argues that the growing importance of CESA over SDG4 and other globally oriented frameworks is the product of a realisation that no strategic document can solve the challenges of Africa’s higher education other than one that is tailor-made for Africa.

The discussions referred to above in Kenya, Egypt and Ethiopia seem to confirm this, and the notion that African academics do not see the SDG document as entirely fit for purpose for Africa, especially its higher education sector.

The East Africa Higher Education Fund works to promote the importance of effective higher education within a diverse continent and in specific the East Africa Economic region.
